It feels like just yesterday that I was photographing Allison and Harrison’s engagement session at Odiorne Point, so getting to see them again so soon for their wedding day was extra special. This time, they were surrounded by the people who mean the most to them, and that was something they wanted their wedding photographs to reflect.
Before the wedding, Allison and Harrison shared how important it was to capture their parents, siblings, friends, and all of the people who had helped shape their lives. They didn’t want their photographs to focus solely on the two of them; they wanted to document the love, laughter, and fun happening all around them. It became apparent very quickly just how much family means to these two.
Their wedding at the historic Thompson Inn in Durham, New Hampshire, was the perfect setting for a day that felt relaxed, intimate, and incredibly intentional. Formerly known as the Highland House, the property dates back to the late 1700s and has a long history as a summer destination along the Lamprey River.
The day began with Allison getting ready, surrounded by her favorite people, completely relaxed with Taylor Swift playing in the background (and I certainly wasn’t complaining!). I fell in love with her wildflower-inspired details, with colorful, beautifully mismatched blooms throughout the day.
Allison shared special first looks with her bridesmaid, her parents, and finally Harrison. They also exchanged personal vows from afar, creating one of the most intentional and meaningful vow moments I’ve witnessed.
And then there was Duke. Their German Shepherd was part of it all – from portraits and signature drink details to walking down the aisle.
Every detail carried meaning. Allison wore earrings from her grandmother and an heirloom ring from her mother-in-law, who also had hand-painted the wildflower-inspired table numbers. During dinner, they had the DJ play each of their parents’ wedding songs, giving both sets of parents a chance to dance together and reminisce. And during Allison’s father’s speech, he surprised everyone by playing an audio recording of the moment Allison was born- her very first cry. It was something I had never witnessed at a wedding, and it was incredibly moving.
Allison and Harrison’s wedding felt like a true reflection of who they are: thoughtful, genuine, relaxed, and deeply connected to the people they love. Every part of their day was filled with intention. It was a beautiful reminder that a wedding isn’t just about celebrating two people… it’s about celebrating the family, friendships, memories, and love that brought them there.
