When people ask me “how did you meet your husband?” I find myself giving the quick answer. I hardly ever go into detail because it just takes too long to explain. It is a really good story, so this series takes you from how we met all the way to our wedding day!
I turned off my tiny green vacuum and looked around. Everything was in boxes. This was a pretty familiar sight, I grew up as an Air Force brat and we moved frequently. There was a sense of sadness, which was odd because the day before was the best day of my life up to that point. I graduated. Four years of intense, hard, grueling work all paid off when I walked across that stage and pulled that tassel to the left. I was a college graduate. However, my lease was up, and there was nothing holding me to that small Illinois college town anymore. My parents lived in Panama City, Florida and I didn’t have any friends that were sticking around. I didn’t have any plans. I didn’t have any job prospects. So I packed up my white Chevy Cavalier and headed south.
Ben grew up in the same house his entire life. After high school graduation he wasn’t sure what he wanted to do with his life. He took jobs, went to a trade school, tried college…nothing fit. He made a decision to join the Air Force. After basic training and tech school he received his first station orders: Panama City, Florida.
