As a NH Wedding Photographer I get the privilege to get to know lots of different couples. I love how Kate and Max were so joyful and up for anything! They even brought a bottle of champagne to spray…LOVE that! Kate is a nurse and Max runs his own painting business, but they actually met in the Athletic Training program at UNH in Durham, NH! Max ended up being Kate’s mentor and as they spent time together, they fell in love! What a beautiful love story.
Kate and Max got engaged on a rooftop balcony in St. John in the Caribbean. Can you picture it? How beautiful and romantic! Their original vacation was meant to set out in March, but when COVID hit they had to reschedule to June. The postponed trip means that he had to sit and wait on the proposal for 3 more months! Max chose Kate’s ring and he designed it himself! Eventually the time came for their vacation and he got down on one knee and of course she said YES!
Strawbery Banke Museum in downtown Portsmouth, NH is one of my favorite places to shoot! I never get tired of it. I love the quaint historic homes, the wall of ivy, and that light colored gravel road! On the day of Kate and Max’s engagement shoot I received a notification on my phone that there was a dense fog rolling in that would be in Portsmouth from 8pm to 8am. Their session started at 5:45pm and by 6pm the fog was heavy and coming in quick! It was such a cool experience. As we walked around Prescott Park (which is just across Marcy St.) and wandered down by the water the fog was in full force and it started to get dark quick! As the clouds rolled in it began to feel eerie and a bit haunting! Quintessential New England!
Congratulations Kate and Max! Can’t wait to see you again and celebrate your wedding day with you!
