Kate and Peter’s Wedding at St. Ann’s by-the-Sea Episcopal Church in Kennebunkport, ME was stunning! This quintessential New England chapel was made of large stones and was built in the late 1800’s. Although they were able to have the ceremony they were envisioning from the beginning, their reception plans had to change because of COVID. They ended up having their reception at a family’s private residence in York and the view was breathtaking!
Kate and Peter met through mutual friends years ago in Dallas, which is where they currently live. On a trip up to Kennebunkport’s River House, rocking in chairs on the porch, Peter asked Kate to marry him! She said yes!
The day started in Kennebunkport at an Air B&B where Kate’s family was staying. Kate was surrounded by all of her girls while they ate, drank, and laughed together. A hair stylist and makeup artist were on site to pamper these ladies, which was more than deserved since all of them had traveled from around the country. It had been pouring rain all morning, so as we got our rain boots and umbrellas ready, and prepared for a wet ceremony, the rain suddenly stopped. It did not rain another drop for the rest of the day! The stone church was an incredible piece of history to experience and the reception was gorgeous! The event planning ladies at fern & flair really brought Kate’s vision to life.
One of my favorite moments from the day was the First Look that Kate and Peter shared. Their buses actually arrived to the church at almost exactly the same time, but Kate managed to hustle into the building without Peter seeing her. We then put Peter in position, right under this amazing stone arch. Then we all stood back and watched Kate sneak behind him. It is obvious to see how well Kate and Peter compliment each other just within minutes of being around them. I loved seeing their faces light up when he turned and saw her for the first time in her dress.
I remember when Kate first told me about her dress. She said it was a J Crew find on Ebay, and wow it did not disappoint. The gown fit her perfectly! It was hard to believe that the dress wasn’t tailor made just for her. The dress was simple and elegant, just like the rest of the details in this wedding!
Congratulations Kate & Peter! Thank you so much for allowing me to be a part of your special day. Marriage is life’s greatest adventure! Love you two!
