There is something especially fitting about photographing two people whose love story has taken them across the country (and across the world) against the backdrop of the New Hampshire seacoast. Paige and James’ engagement session at Great Island Commons in Newcastle was the perfect blend of coastal beauty, golden sunshine, and a love story rooted in adventure.
Although it was a chilly May evening, the sun was shining brightly over the water, creating the kind of soft, glowing light every photographer hopes for. Between the ocean views, historic lighthouse, and seagrass, Great Island Commons provided a stunning setting to capture this exciting season in Paige and James’ lives.
A Love Story That Began on the Slopes of Colorado
Paige and James first met on a ski trip in Denver, where Paige was living at the time. Each year, Paige and her college friends reunite for an annual ski trip, and one of those trips turned into something much more meaningful.
Their story is one of shared passions and remarkable journeys.
Paige grew up in Memphis, attended college in Alabama, and has since lived in Denver, Florida, and New York City.
James grew up in Portsmouth and later moved to Daytona Beach for college.
Today, they both work as airline pilots, a career that perfectly reflects their mutual love of travel, exploration, and adventure.
A Romantic Proposal in Switzerland
In February, Paige and James traveled to Switzerland for a vacation that would become unforgettable.
James brought the ring with him, waiting for the right moment to propose. After a beautiful dinner at a special restaurant, the two returned to their hotel. Standing together on the balcony with the iconic Matterhorn towering in the background, James asked Paige to marry him.
With one of the most breathtaking mountain views in the world as their witness, Paige said yes.
Despite the cool May temperatures, Paige and James were completely at ease together. Their playful energy and deep connection made every moment effortless to photograph. Whether they were laughing together in the sand or cuddling close to stay warm as the sun dipped lower, their affection for one another was unmistakable.
Paige and James’ story has taken them from ski slopes in Colorado to mountain balconies in Switzerland and now to the New Hampshire Seacoast, where they are preparing for the next chapter of their lives together.
