Nestled high above the lakes and mountains of New Hampshire, Castle in the Clouds provided one of the most breathtaking ceremony backdrops I have ever witnessed. Built in 1914 as the estate of millionaire shoe manufacturer Thomas Gustave Plant, the historic mountaintop mansion overlooks Lake Winnipesaukee and the Ossipee Mountains, offering panoramic views that seem to stretch endlessly into the horizon. It was the perfect place for Caitlin and Nick to begin their forever.
My day began in Freedom, New Hampshire, where Caitlin was getting ready at her parents’ home. The house was full of excitement as her bridesmaids, mom, and bridesman laughed together while steaming dresses, finishing last-minute details, and soaking in every moment. If there’s one thing you should know about Caitlin, it’s that she radiates joy. Her laughter is contagious, her smile never fades, and she approached the entire day with a calm, go-with-the-flow attitude that made everyone around her feel at ease. She simply couldn’t wait to marry Nick.
After the girls boarded a party bus to the venue, Caitlin shared an emotional first look with her dad- the moment that opened the floodgates of happy tears. Soon after, she made her way to Nick for an intimate first look overlooking the mountains and shimmering lake. With the sun shining brightly behind them, it was a moment that felt almost too beautiful to be real. I especially fell in love with Caitlin’s cathedral veil, whose delicate lace perfectly mirrored the intricate details of her gown.
Following a ride up the mountain in the iconic white trolley, guests gathered at what may be the most stunning ceremony location I’ve ever photographed. Surrounded by sweeping mountain views, Caitlin and Nick exchanged vows before sharing a meaningful blessing from both sets of parents, creating one of the most heartfelt moments of the day.
The celebration continued with thoughtful speeches that had everyone laughing through tears, a touching first dance, and heartfelt parent dances that filled the room with emotion. Before long, the dance floor was overflowing with guests of every age celebrating together. From the first look to the final song, Caitlin and Nick never stopped smiling, and it was impossible not to smile right along with them.
Just a few weeks ago, I had the privilege of photographing their engagement session, where their playful chemistry and effortless connection were already so evident. Watching that chapter lead into such a beautiful wedding day made this celebration even more special to witness. It was an absolute honor to document the beginning of this next adventure, and I wish Caitlin and Nick a lifetime filled with the same laughter, love, and joy that surrounded them on their wedding day.
