Why You Should Consider a Sunrise Session

NH Wedding Photographer | Amanda Rai Photography

So you know all about that golden hour light and your convinced that sessions near sunset have a certain pop to them that you can’t get any other time of the day, but you maybe you haven’t entertained the idea of a sunrise session.

First, before we get into the nitty gritty, consider that sunrise time varies drastically as the seasons change. For example, on June 21 sunrise is at 5 am, but on October 21 its not until 7 am! I will walk you through the top 3 reasons why I think sunrise sessions are the best!

1. Nobody will be around!

Parks and public places are crowded at sunset, that is prime time for people to be out and about. Hardly anyone is around during sunrise. There will be no people to dodge and no one staring at you as you get your photos taken. This is especially vital if you are wanting photos at a very popular crowded place. Consider early in the morning to beat the crowds!

2. Completely different background (sun angle)

Golden hour glow is so magical because those images are backlit, meaning the sun is behind your head. Think about it, if the sun sets in the west and rises in the east, that means you will be needing to face the complete opposite direction to be backlit in the morning than you would in the evening. This is especially impactful here on the east coast. If you are wanting a specific background for your photos, it may be best lit at sunrise!

3. Prime days available!

It is most likely that your photographer doesn’t have people lining up taking sunrise session slots. Their calendars are probably wide open at that time of day! This means you can book your session much sooner and on prime days because sunrise sessions are not in high demand.

What are your thoughts? Did I convince you? Schedule your sunrise session today!
