On one of the warmest nights of the summer, 90 degrees with a soft ocean breeze, I had the absolute joy of photographing Meghan and Sam’s engagement session in downtown Portsmouth. We kicked things off in the gorgeous gardens of Prescott Park, which were buzzing with life thanks to the summer play happening nearby and lots of people soaking in the sunshine. Despite the bustle, we carved out some peaceful moments that felt like they belonged just to Meghan and Sam.
Prescott Park is one of my favorite spots to shoot, with its variety of backdrops and perfect light, and as it turns out, it’s now one of their favorite places too. Sam had proposed to Meghan there just last month, making it all the more meaningful to return for their engagement photos. The joy and love they have for each other felt right at home in that space.
These two have been together since high school and share a life filled with animals, adventures, and laughter. They currently have three cats and a flock of chickens, and they love spending time outdoors with their little crew. When they’re not at home, they enjoy hopping in the car for a road trip…Meghan always on the lookout for a new bakery or coffee shop to try, while Sam seeks out historical stops and fun facts to dive into.
Both Meghan and Sam grew up in Dover and still have deep roots in the Seacoast area, surrounded by family and friends. Their wedding plans beautifully reflect that connection: they’ll be tying the knot at a family church in Portsmouth, then heading to Dover’s River Mill for the reception. Truly the best of both worlds.
Meghan and Sam, you two are such a fun, down-to-earth pair, and I can’t wait for your big day in April. It’s going to be a beautiful celebration of everything that makes your story so special.
