I met Ashley and Sam over Zoom last month and I was super excited to finally get to meet them in person! We just passed peak foliage here on the NH Seacoast and Odiorne Point State Park’s trees were looking so beautiful Saturday evening! There was also a hurricane off of the coast that was causing some cool cloud coverage and massive waves. Ashley and Sam are well acquainted with the ocean. They both studied marine biology which also became their careers. Ashley and Sam also own a boat together and love their time out on the ocean.
Ashley and Sam met in grad school. Sam was working at the school and had already graduated by then and Ashley was finishing up her degree. They didn’t have any classes together and were only acquaintances, but Sam knew she was the one! They joke about how Sam tricked Ashley into giving him her number and then he persistently pursued her. One day Ashley said she was going to go get some ice cream and Sam said “do you want company?” and he ended up going with her and that was their first date!!
Ashley and Sam love taking their boat out, docking at a beach, and relaxing on beach chairs. Sam proposed to Ashley in June 2020 after they had docked their boat at a beach in Ipswich, MA. Ashley said that Sam had been acting nervous and strange all day so she knew something was going on! On the beach, Sam got down on one knee and asked her to marry him. She said yes!
