Even rainy fall days in New England have their charm, even if it is no one’s first choice! Erin + Justin got married in the White Mountains of New Hampshire in North Woodstock on this rainy, October day.
The ceremony and reception were held at the Woodstock Inn + Brewery. The forecast called for torrential downpour all day long… and they were correct. The beautiful thing about today though was that no matter the weather, Erin and Justin had permanent smiles on their faces literally the entire time. Nothing could have put a damper on this day for them! Everyone there kept commenting on how much love and joy filled the rooms they were in, as well as the rooms their families were in.
Erin and Justin are both twins, and it was really special to see so many family members represented throughout not just the wedding party, but throughout so many details of the day. Erin’s cousin Lindsay officiated the ceremony, and read a touching classic ceremony reading that their grandfather used to say as his trademark speech when he used to officiate weddings. It was called “Blessing of the Hands,” and didn’t leave a dry eye in the crowd.
A hand blessing is a ritual that draws you closer to one another. It says that hands are considered to be a connection to the heart, and a hand blessing symbolically brings two hearts together. As she read the blessing she asked anyone in the crowd to hold their significant other’s hand to also receive the blessing anew. It was beautiful!
After the ceremony the guests all rushed inside to get warm and dry, while Erin + Justin and I played in the rain to embrace what was, and got some beautiful portraits of them! After we finished, we too went inside, and were met with delicious aromas of dinner and drinks being served, and friends and family waiting to love on Erin + Justin. A cozy end to the evening with candles, warm fires, yummy food to fill bellies, and full hearts!
Congratulations again to Erin + Justin! What a gift to me it was to witness such a beautiful love story, and to be with you on this special day!
Love,
Melissa
