Great Island Commons is one of those coastal gems that feels like it belongs in a storybook. Tucked along the water in Newcastle, New Hampshire, it offers grassy stretches, rocky shorelines, and a front-row seat to the kind of sunsets that feel like a gift. The evening we met for their session, the clouds lifted just in time, flooding everything in golden light, as if the sky was showing up just for them.
Lia + Tommy’s story is rooted in the kind of connection that builds over time. They grew up in the same town, went to the same high school, and even had family ties—but it wasn’t until years later, after a chance reconnection, that everything fell into place. What started with a simple DM turned into something real. Less than a year into dating, Tommy proposed. He popped the question during what Lia thought was just a fun girls’ weekend photo shoot. He pulled it off with the help of her closest friends, and the surprise left her speechless.
Getting to photograph their sunset session at Great Island Commons felt like documenting something special. Their joy is easy. Their connection is steady. And watching them laugh together as the tide came in felt like witnessing something both everyday and magical.
Scroll through some of my favorite moments from the evening, from laughing smiles to quiet glances and the glow of a sky that seemed to be celebrating with them. Congratulations Lia + Tommy! I can’t wait to photograph your wedding next year!
