There is something really special about photographing a couple in a location that has meaning to them. I met Katie and Mitch at Rye Harbor on a warm October night – the exact location where Mitch proposed to Katie in Summer of 2020! This couple’s love for the ocean and each other runs deep. We had so much fun exploring this sentimental spot and hearing them relive their engagement day!
Katie and Mitch met at George Mason University in Virginia but decided to plant their roots in New Hampshire shortly after college. Mitch grew up in Exeter, NH and Katie grew up in Delaware. When they were deciding to move back North, the two decided to stay true to their love for the seaside and moved to Hampton, NH. Mitch works for Oracle and Katie is an Oncology nurse. Within minutes of meeting these two, it is clear that Katie has found her calling with her sweet and uplifting personality. Mitch was so proud to speak to Katie’s dedication to her patients (especially over the last year and a half).
Mitch had always told Katie that when he proposed, she would have “no idea”! He stayed true to his surprise and just days before the proposal, bought Katie’s ring and spoke with both of their families. The following day, Katie had just gotten off a long shift of work (and was hungry!) when Mitch brought her to Rye Harbor and proposed to her on the rocks. Mitch’s parents were there “hiding out” and had lobster rolls waiting for them after the proposal – Katie’s favorite!
Katie and Mitch adore their dog Minnie and are big New England sports fans. They also love to travel and spend as much time as they can by the ocean. I can already tell with their thoughtful planning and playful personalities, their wedding is going to be romantic and so fun! I can’t wait to capture their special day next year!
