Brittny and Dom’s Owl’s Nest Resort wedding in Thornton, NH, was one of those days I’ll never forget! The kind where the unexpected actually made the celebration even sweeter.
The morning began with the hum of excitement in two different condos on-site. The girls had music blasting while hair and makeup filled the air with laughter and energy. The guys, just a few steps away, were having their own relaxed version of prep, anticipation building as the hours ticked by closer to their first look.
When it came time for Brittny and Dom’s first look on the putting green, the White Mountains stretched endlessly behind them. The forecast had been calling for rain all day, yet the sun broke through and gave them the gift of clear skies for that special moment.
And then came the ceremony. Just as Brittny walked down the aisle, raindrops began to fall. At first it was a sprinkle, then a full, unrelenting downpour, complete with wind that had everyone soaked. But here’s the thing: instead of frustration or panic, Brittny and Dom laughed. They rolled with it. Their guests huddled together under the storm, and their vows carried even more weight in the middle of the chaos. It felt like a picture of marriage itself, joy that isn’t fragile, that holds steady even in the storm. Luckily we had a videographer capture the whole scene, and after posting a reel about it, this wedding day got the attention of People Magazine!
Right after the ceremony, as everyone ran for cover, the clouds broke. The sun returned, golden and strong, just in time for portraits. And let me tell you, sunset at Owl’s Nest after a storm is something magical. The sky lit up, the mountains glowed, and Brittny and Dom looked radiant, hand in hand, as if the whole world was celebrating with them.
The reception carried that same spirit, playful, thoughtful, and full of heart. Every table had a “captain” complete with those chosen wearing a captain’s hat, leading their group in cheers and games. And one of my favorite details? Brittny and Dom handwrote a note to every single guest who came. That small act of love spoke volumes about who they are, people who notice, who care, who don’t take relationships for granted.
From the storm to the sunset, from the laughter to the thoughtfulness, this day was a reminder of why I love weddings. They are perfectly imperfect and real. Brittny and Dom’s day was as real and beautiful as it gets.
